Becoming a Mason
Freemasonry is one of the oldest fraternal organizations in the world. Masons meet as brothers, help each other and their community, and work at becoming better men. Waxhaw Lodge No. 562 is always glad to talk with men who want to learn more.
No one is asked to join. A man becomes a Mason because he asks.
Who can petition
A man who wants to join a lodge in North Carolina must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Believe in God
- Be of good character
- Be recommended by members of the lodge
To learn more, see Become a North Carolina Freemason from the Grand Lodge of North Carolina.
How it works
- Reach out. Send a membership inquiry using the link at the bottom of this page.
- Get to know us. Come meet some of the Brothers. Ask anything you want about what we do.
- Petition. When you are ready, you fill out a petition, signed by members of the lodge.
- Investigation. A small committee meets with you to get to know you better.
- Ballot. The lodge votes on your petition at a stated meeting.
- The degrees. If elected, you receive the three degrees of Masonry: Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft and Master Mason.
