Welcome to Vandora Lodge No. 745!
We are happy that you have visited here on our web page. We meet on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM. If you would like to visit with us we have a dinner get together and meet visitors prior to our meeting. You are cordially invited to come join us for fellowship. Our address is 1120 Benson Road, (NC50), Garner, NC, 27529. Please bring your family if you like, we'd love to meet all of you. Join us for dinner with you family, at no cost to you or your family. We will be happy to show you around our building and explain as much as we can. We do have a nice library and a museum set up in our basment and would love for you to see that. Of course we won't be able to explain some things, since you would have to be a member for those things. Dinner is at 6:30 P.M. and our meeting is promptly at 7:30 P.M. If you are not a mason you cannot attend the meeting; but, if you are interested in becoming a Mason, well, ASK1TOBE1! It is easier that you may think. We do require that you have a belief in a Supreme Being, and we do require a criminal background check. That is pretty much it. If you would like to contact the Secretary, there is a form on this web page for you to do so. You can call him at the number above; and, if he does not answer please leave a message and he will call you back.
Are you aware that many of the Founding Fathers of the United States were Masons. George Washington, our first President; Benjamin Franklin, Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Teddy Roosevelt, Gerald R. Ford just to name a few. Actually 16 of our Presidents have been Masons. 5 Star Generals Douglas MacArthur and Omar Bradley were Masons. Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, of WW II; movies stars John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Clark Gable, Neil Armstrong (one of the men who went to the moon), Mel Blanc (The man of 1000 voices like Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam). Country Singer Brad Paisley was a Mason. Shaq the basketball player is a Mason. As you can see many men have been Masons. Perhaps someone in your family or one of your best friends is a Mason. Many of the Royal Family of the United Kingom have been Brothers in the Craft. There are Masons all over the world. There are Masonic Lodges all over the world.
At Gettysburg National Battleground there is a memorial of a mortally wounded Confederate Officer being helped by a Union Officer, both were Masons. In the battle of Gettysburg there were two generals, Armistead a confederate from Alexandria lodge in Va, and General Hancock in the union army. They had served out West in the army together. They were good friends. At the outbreak of the Civil War Armistead joined the Confederate army, and he was in Pickett’s charge. While on the battlefield he was lying on the ground giving the distress sign and a union soldier (Hancock) saw it Armistead died later. But the brother from the Ohio lodge got Armistead's bible and some masonic items and some personal items. Hancock got the items as Armistead died; and, then he passed the items along to the Armistead's family. A noble gesture by another Brother Mason.
During WW II there are cases of German soldiers helping imprisoned or wounded Americans with extra food or medical care. The list goes on!!
