My Brethren,
This will be my final greeting, and as always, I earnestly pray this message finds you and yours well.
To say that this Masonic journey to serve you as the Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 3 has been an honor, would be an extreme understatement. I will never be able to fully express the gratitude for the trust you placed in me to sit in such a prestigious chair, in such a prestigious lodge. I will go to my grave humbly honored to have been blessed with many titles in my life, a child of God, husband, dad, papa, police officer, and now Past Master of St. John’s Lodge No. 3.
Many times, I have stood at the Past Masters wall in Lowthrop Hall, pondering the legacy left behind by each Past Master, and feeling the weight of my own internal burden to meet they’re and the lodges expectations. For the past year, I have strived to preserve and build upon the legacy they have left behind for more than 250 years. No successful achievements could have been accomplished without the hard work and dedication of every brother who fulfilled their elected and appointed positions this year. For any shortcomings they are mine to bear alone.
St. John’s Lodge No. 3 is like no other. In a previous gathering while speaking of our lodge, I exclaimed, “beyond her flaws and disparaging looks, this building has seen wars, famine and has welcomed some of the brightest and most influential minds”. Our lodge has never let us down, it has stood tall and strong for every Mason who has been lifted from her floor. St. John’s Lodge No. 3 is truly majestic in every way. The extent of her beauty and grace can be witnessed in the eyes of every visiting person as they first cross the threshold of the north door, as they become visibly overwhelmed with the beauty of the decorative walls and the starry canopy of heaven.
One year is but a blink of an eye in the grand scheme of time, and as such my year as Master has surely escaped me, leaving some goals unachieved and some which we all should be proud of. Please, rest your thoughts knowing the future of our lodge is in great hands for the coming years. I pray that they will get the same support many of you offered me.
I am always eager to hear from a brother, so should you ever need anything now or ever, my personal number is 252-675-5754.
Forever Fraternally,
Jason D. Williams, PM

My Brothers,
As a result of very little response of interest in the New Bern Christmas Parade and due to some clerical mistakes by the city, we have decided not to pursue this year’s endeavors to participate. I can only pray that as a fraternity, we do not give up on any future opportunities to interact with our communities, thus hopefully we can try again next year.
Hope to see many of you at our Past Master/Ladies and Award Banquet.

MumFest and Golf Cart Fundraiser Updates
Brethren,
I pray everyone is doing well. I wanted to reach out to you and let you know that the Golf Cart Raffle is in full swing. Thanks to many of our brothers, tickets sales are doing very well for the New Bern Masonic Historic Theater Preservation Foundation. Your brothers are working extremely hard to raise the funds needed to continue the lifelong efforts to preserve our historic building for generations to come. You should really come out and see some of the work being done to your building.
In addition to selling tickets, we have secured a vendor’s booth for this years MumFest, which will be held on the weekend of October 13, 14 and 15. The goal is not just to sell tickets, but more importantly to increase the exposure of St. John’s Lodge and to educate our community about importance of masonry and our historic lodge. If you find yourself at MumFest, please come visit with the brethren of your lodge. If you want to help, we need folks to work in booth the during MumFest or help selling tickets for the raffle. I have also attached a copy of the Golf Cart Raffle Flyer for dissemination.
Also, your lodge will be conducting a 3rd Degree on two brothers, Wednesday, August 2, a gourmet meal will be served at 6:30 pm with the degree beginning at 7:30 pm.
As always, I am only a phone call away should you need anything or have any questions. Hope to see or talk to you soon.

Brethren,
It is with a heavy heart that I ask you to keep our WB Jeremy Taylor, Past Master of St. John’s Lodge No.3 and his family in your thoughts and prayer. On May 14, 2023, WB Jeremy Taylor unexpectedly lost his 26-year-old son, Austin Taylor. Although we may not understand Gods plan, as his Brothers, now is the time to be there for him in any capacity needed.
Austin’s obituary reads as follows:
Austin Avery Taylor (ATAYLOR), age 26, of Grantsboro, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023. An incredible son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend, Austin enjoyed playing video games, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
Austin is survived by his father, Jeremy Taylor (Jessica Chase); his mother, Jennifer Lynn (Brad Tarplee); siblings, Hannah Dunford (Isaiah), Madison Tarplee, Logan Davis, and Mason Chase; paternal grandparents, Buddy and Anita Taylor; maternal grandmother, Brenda Perry; aunt, Jamie Coombs (Benji); nephew, Nolan Dunford; many cousins; and his service dog, Hershey, whom he dearly loved.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Cotten Funeral Home. The service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. He will be laid to rest at New Bern Memorial Cemetery.
Austin's favorite color was pink and in honor of him, we encourage his friends and family to wear pink to his service.
