• Petitioning for Membership: If you're ready to join, simply express your interest to a Freemason you know. They will guide you through the process, including recommendations and background checks.

The Joining Process

Requirements to Join Freemasonry:

• You must believe in a supreme being.
• You must be joining of your own free will. Don't let your dad, uncle, neighbor, or friend pressure you into joining. Join because you want to.
• You must be a man.
• You must be free-born. The term free-born is a holdover from the days when slavery, indentured servitude, and bonding were common. It means that a man must be his own master, and not be bound to another man. That's not a problem these days, but the language is retained because of its antiquity and a desire to retain the heritage of the fraternity.
• You must be of lawful age. Depending on the Grand Lodge, this can be anywhere from 18 to 25.
• You must come recommended by at least two existing Freemasons from the lodge you're petitioning.

Joining Process:

1. Petition: To begin your journey, you'll need to fill out a petition form expressing your interest in joining.
2. Background Check: The Lodge will conduct a background check to ensure the requirements are met.
3. Interview: You will be assigned to an interview committee that will conduct a short and friendly interview to get to know you better.
4. Recommendation: The interview committee will provide the lodge with their recommendation on your membership.
5. Lodge Vote: Lodge members will vote on your membership.
6. Acceptance: You will either be accepted or rejected based on the vote.
