Brethren, It was brought to my attention during last night's meetings that those who don't make it to meetings did not know about the possible consolidation of Merchantville and Mozart Lodges. The report of the committee of Mergers and Consolidations has been given at every meeting this year and has been in the minutes, which are on my desk every meeting since I began as your secretary in January 2025. It has also come to my attention that members do not have regular access to the minutes on Grandview. Below are the minutes for all meetings held in 2025, including those from last night's meeting. Good afternoon Brothers, September 4th will be the GLI for the 18th Masonic District. They will be randomly picking a Lodge to do an opening and a closing. GLI is a requirement of being an officer, but if anyone else can be at GLI and can also be at a rehearsal this Thursday, August 28th at 7pm, to go over an opening and a closing along with Mozart Lodge, it would be greatly appreciated. We really would like to fill in all seats without having to pull from the other 7 lodges in the district please. So whether you're an officer or not, or maybe you're thinking you just want to help your Lodge, now is your chance to help Merchantville Lodge look fantastic. There are plenty of seats without speaking parts. Rehearsals are all casual dress; come as you are. GLI is formal, Tux if you have one, Black suit otherwise. Upcoming Schedule (all at Merchantville Temple): *MM 2nd Section Rehearsal: Wednesday August 27th at 7pm (assigned brothers required, others welcome) *Open/Close Rehearsal: Thursday August 28th at 7pm (Merchantville and Mozart Lodges) *GLI - Dress is formal, black tie. Dinner at 5:30, Gavel at 6:45pm *Merchantville Lodge Stated Communication: Thursday September 11th at 7:30pm We would love to see you at any or all of these gatherings. Thank you!! |

Dear Brethren, I hope this message finds you well. Our lodge is busting at the seams, so we are planning a big cleanup of the lodge, and we could really use your help! On August 9th, 2025, there will be a Dumpster Day event, starting around 9am, to clear out unwanted items and get the lodge ready for the upcoming season. A dumpster will be available all weekend long. Your assistance would mean a lot to us, whether it’s helping to sort, move, or just lend an extra pair of hands. Together, we can make the lodge a cleaner and more welcoming space for everyone. Please get rid of any items you no longer need, want or use. You can start at anytime before the said weekend and stack the items behind the shed to be disposed of. Please let me know if you’re available to join us. Looking forward to working together! Thank you so much, WB Andrew Knaus 609-238-6144 aknaus@merchantvillelodge.org |

Dear Brother; The officers of your lodge have decided to explore the possibility of Merging Mozart Lodge #121 with Merchantville Lodge #119. Due to declining membership and a decreasing number of members who are able to attend lodge meetings and attend to lodge business, it has been decided that one strong lodge would be more productive than 2 weaker lodges. In order to proceed, it is necessary for us to obtain the signatures of 10% of the lodge members. If you agree with this proposal, please attach you name to the bottom of this letter. Since this is just a proposal, your assent is not approval of said merger but only consent for us to explore the feasibility. Please consider this proposal seriously, and sign below if you agree that we should move forward. You may return this via email to secretary@merchantvillelodge.org or by following the link at the bottom of this page._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ You may also complete this form online by clicking **IMPORTANT LODGE MERGER PROPOSAL FORM** |

Greetings from the East November 2024 Brethren, as we get closer to the end of the year and masters and officers are getting ready to change responsibilities, advance in their lines, become a new master or retire to become a past master, make sure we all as masons support those changes and help the new officers to become better leaders. We are also entering into the installation season, and in preparation for this I have asked WB Vince Capone to do a presentation on receiving special guests and procedures to follow during an official installation, this will be during our regular stated meeting on Thursday Nov 14th at 730pm. In addition, Merchantville Lodge is planning an open installation on Sat Dec 7th dinner at 5pm and installation to start at 6pm Brief History of Masonic Installation The history of Masonic installation ceremonies dates back to the early development of Freemasonry in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The first documented evidence of a Masonic lodge is from 1599 in Scotland, and by the early 1700s, the formation of the first Grand Lodge in England in 1717 marked a significant evolution in Masonic practices. This period saw the transition from operative to speculative Masonry, where the focus shifted from the physical construction of buildings to the moral and philosophical teachings of the craft. Masonic installations serve to formally recognize and induct new officers within a lodge, reflecting the organization’s commitment to leadership and governance. The installation ceremony is rich in symbolism and ritual, often incorporating elements that emphasize the virtues of integrity, responsibility, and service. Each officer takes on specific roles, and their installation reinforces the hierarchy and organization of the lodge, echoing the traditions of ancient guilds. Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, as Freemasonry spread across Europe and into the Americas, installation practices varied by region but maintained core elements. Rituals became more standardized, with elaborate ceremonies developed to enhance the experience and convey the values of Freemasonry. The installation not only serves as a formal introduction to leadership but also acts as a reminder of the moral obligations that come with the office. Today, Masonic installations are celebrated events within lodges, marked by a sense of tradition and community. They often involve a gathering of members, family, and friends, emphasizing the collective support for the new officers. This ceremony reflects both the historical legacy of Freemasonry and its ongoing commitment to fostering leadership and ethical behavior among its members. I look forward to seeing everyone at this month’s meeting Fraternally, Andrew Knaus |
