Welcome to Masonic Lodge of Research No. 401!
Masonic Lodge of Research
Lodge #401 AF&AM 285 Whalley Ave. New Haven, CT. 06511
Masonic Lodge of Research (MLR) is a lodge of Freemasons interested in the history and inspiration of Freemasonry and in promoting Masonic scholarship. A lodge meeting at MLR is typically a short business session followed by an informative speaker, or an original paper by a member, and a discussion circle, possibly with light refreshments. Founded in 1966, MLR encourages work in wide topics of Masonic study.
MLR holds six Stated Communications each year and Special Communications as occasion requires. MLR’s meetings are held in the New Haven Masonic Temple at 285 Whitney Ave, New Haven, CT. on 4th Wednesdays of February, March, May, September, October and December.
The December meeting is MLR’s Annual Meeting and is sometimes moved by dispensation to a date earlier in December.
ALL MASONS are welcome to attend our meetings (occasionally a meeting may be open only to Master Masons because of the subject matter covered. Please check with the secretary). Any Master Mason may apply to become an Associate or Research Member of MLR Masonic Lodge of Research nameplate There are two additional forms of membership: Subscribing Membership (for libraries and institutions), and the James Royal Case Fellowship, which is an honor conferred upon an outstanding Masonic scholar.
Application for membership: ApplicationforMasonicLodgeofResearch
One of the benefits of membership in MLR is that all members receive the Transactions – a digital publication of the various papers presented in MLR, together with such works as the editorial board may deem appropriate. MLR is proud that the Transactions is the first such electronic publication to be issued by any research lodge.
