A word from our Worshipful Master Elect, Bro. Jeffrey Potter…

Brothers All,

I first would like to thank you for your faith in electing me to be your Master for the 2019 year. It is definitely an honor and I am hopeful I can live up to your expectations. The Wardens and I have been working on some great events for the year and look forward to getting to see many of you at lodge this year.

At our stated communications, there will be a piece of Masonic education presented by an officer of the lodge. This is to assist us all in our search for more light. We had discussed doing a “rusty mason’s night” for those that haven’t been to lodge in a while and might have forgotten things. I realized that this isn’t necessary. Every night is a rusty mason’s night. If you haven’t been to lodge and have forgotten grips, signs, or words, don’t let that discourage you. You don’t have to work your way into your own lodge. Feel free to reach out to me and we can meet before lodge and go over everything so you feel comfortable. Know that you aren’t judged but we are our own biggest critics.

We are planning practice and brotherhood nights for the 4th Wednesday of the month. These are a nice relaxed time for brothers to get together and enjoy each other’s company and go over any ritual work that we feel we need to go over.

On February 3rd, we are planning a Superbowl Party at the lodge. This event will be open to friends and family. It will be pot-luck and BYOB (if we get the bottle club set in time). We will be streaming the game and projecting it on a big screen in the dining hall. Bring a camp chair and watch the game with brothers and friends. There will be a $10 charge per person with proceeds going to the C&E. At half-time, we will have a cigar swap. For those that wish to participate, bring a cigar and place it in the basket at the door. At half-time, just grab a cigar from the basket.

On May 9th, we will once again be welcoming the Golden Harp Irish Dancers into our lodge. Always a wonderful time and a great spaghetti dinner to follow put on by MW Bill Greene.

May 14th will bring us to the first of our special Stated Communications. We will be having our lodge awards night. This night we will be honoring those brothers that have reached annual milestones in their masonic career. Special invitations will go out for those receiving awards. We will open lodge early so that we can go to refreshment so that our loved ones can come and celebrate these wonderful milestones with us.

May 23rd is the tentative date for the citizenship awards night where we honor a deserving senior from each of the area high schools with an award.

June 1st we will be holding our third annual Chuckwagon Table Lodge. A flier is included in this package. It is definitely a fun time each year.

June 11th is our second special stated communication. First, it is our Hawaiian Shirt Night. Feel free to come in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt for the last meeting before going dark for the summer. Also, we will be opening early and going to refreshment. After dinner, the National Sojourners will present the Build a Flag speech. This will be open to ladies to attend as well.

We will continue the practice and brotherhood nights on our regular stated meeting nights during the summer. We may even bring a grill down and make some hamburgers and hang out outside.

In November, we have planned a lodge trip up to the Masonic museum in Lexington. The plan currently is to meet at the lodge on November 9th and drive up in a caravan. (If there is enough interest, we can look into renting a large passenger van from Enterprise for the day) We will get to the museum and have a tour and go out for lunch as a group. Just a fun day for brothers and their families to get together and enjoy a fun day together.

Your Wardens and I are truly looking forward to a fun and informative year and look forward to serving the craft. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me. You can call or text me at 203-627-7065, email me at wb.jpotter@gmail.com, or send me a note at 22 Wayne Dr. North Windham, CT 06256. And again, I hope to see some faces at the meetings that haven’t been there in a while. I promise that if you come, you will not be put to work. You can sit comfortably on the side.

Fraternally yours,

Jeffrey Potter
