John Skene (1649-1695)

John Skene (1649-1695) Claimed by some to be the first Mason in America. He was raised in Aberdeen Lodge No. 1 (27 on their roll) in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1682. He came to America in October 1682, settling at Burlington, N.J. He was Deputy Governor of West Jersey from 1685 until his death in 1695.
