Copper Country No. 135 Grand Lodge Of Michigan |
Good morning, Brethren! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, now that it seems to be here! Those were a couple scorcher days last week, though a bit nicer for the holiday weekend. During the worst of the heat, I was actually returning from a road trip with my kids which included a tour of the childhood home of Brother William Howard Taft (Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, and US President), and attending the annual meeting of the Grottoes, one of our Masonic social organisations. It was rather nice that it seemed to get a little cooler every mile I came closer to here. Tomorrow, Wednesday July 8th, is our monthly meeting of Copper Country no. 135. I'm hoping many of you can attend, especially if you haven't in a while. Summer is a GREAT time to come to lodge. There's no ice to drive through to get home, and the sun is still up when lodge is out! I've also heard our Deputy Grand Master is visiting, so I'd love to pack those sidelines as much as possible. If you're ever wondering "What is the Lodge doing?" the answer can hopefully be found at http://cc135.org our lodge website. To be honest, aside from the Calendar, there's not a lot of information there right now, but I'm hoping you can help with that. If you have any pictures of Lodge events from the past few years, or the past few decades, I'm looking for them. Bring them to lodge, or email them to me, and I'll make sure to get them posted. Masonry is connected to everything we do in our lives, and our website should reflect the myriad of ways our lodge is, and has been, connected to the communities around us. If you made it to the Bridgefest Parade, you would have seen me pulling our float in my top hat, with our Secretary repping the Shrine in his red fez! With our meeting being Wednesday, I'll leave you with this: July 8th in Freemasonry! 8th of July, 1789, Brother Pierpont Edwards was installed as the first Grand Master of Masons of Connecticut. He was the Uncle of later Vice President Aaron Burr, and a delegate to the Continental Congress. In Good Fellowship, Donald Wilson, Worshipful Master Copper Country Lodge no. 135 |
