Coloma Lodge was pleased to honor Brother Steve Martens as the Mason of the Year for 2024 at the Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on March 17th. It is the second time that Bother Steve earned the prestigious award. "Brother Steve's tireless work in maintaining our temple makes our lodge a safer, more pleasing place for Masons to meet, receive guests and host events," noted Philip Staub, Worshipful Master. When the lodge needed to replace the furnace in the basement of the building, it was discovered that the floor in the west end of the building was sloping and needed to be reinforced. Brother Steve led the effort to reinforce the structure and make the building safer for the lodge and for Hope Resources which rents the first floor of the building. This project in addition to the many others that Brother Steve has completed for the lodge makes him deserving of the of award. He frequently fulfills the duties of Steward during degrees as well. Congratulations, Brother Steve Martens! We appreciate everything you do for our lodge and the fraternity. |

Fire Chiefs representing departments in Coloma, Watervliet and Hartford were guests of honor at Coloma Masonic Lodge’s Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on St. Patrick’s Day where they were each presented with donations to better prepare their firefighters to meet public safety needs. The donations were made through a program funded by the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan which enables local lodges the opportunity to build, enrich, and strengthen their relief programs and community philanthropy. “If there is one thing that the tragic events in Los Angeles have taught us, it is that our first responders and firefighters need all the support they can get”, said Philip Staub, Master of the Lodge. “Coloma Masons are proud to play a small part in ensuring that the communities around us have the best equipment available to protect us all.” On hand to accept the contributions were Mike Mattix, Fire Chief of the Northern Berrien County Fire and Rescue; Bill Whitney, Fire Chief at the Watervliet Fire Department; and Rob Harting, Fire Chief at the Hartford Fire Department. |
