Welcome to Atkinson No. 612!
We are happy that you have visited with us here on our web page. We meet on the 4th Monday of every month, except in December, if Christmas is close by we may not. If you'd like to visit with us, please do, our address is 110 East Main Street, Atkinson, NC. Please bring your family if you like, we'd love to meet all of you!!! Join us for dinner with your family,, at no cost to you or your family. We will be happy to show you around our building, & explain as much as we can. Of course we won't be able to explain some things, since you'll have to be a member. Dinner is at 6:00PM, & the meeting is promptly at 7:00PM. If you are not a Mason you cannot attend the meeting, but if you are interested in becoming a Mason, well,, ASK1TOBE1,, it's easier than you may think. Now we do require a belief in a Supreme Being, & we do require a criminal background check, but that is pretty much it. If you'd like to contact the Secretary, there is a form on this web page for you to do so, or you can call him at the above number, if he doesn't answer, please leave a message & he will return your call.
Are you aware that many of the Founding Fathers of the USA were Masons? George Washington, our 1st President, Benjamin Franklin just to name two of them. Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, Teddy Roosevelt, Gerald R. Ford just to name a few. Actually 16 of our Presidents have been Masons. 5 Star Generals, Douglas MacArthur & Omar Bradley. Medal of Honor Winner Audie L. Murphy, of WW II, movie stars John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Clark Gable, one of the men whom went to the moon, Neil Armstrong. Mel Blanc, the man of 1000 voices, (Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam) Country music singer Brad Paisley. So you see, many men have been Masons, perhaps a man in your family, Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin, maybe even one of your Best Friends? Many of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom have also been Brothers in the Craft.
Even during the Civil War Brothers helped one another, even though they were on opposite sides. At Gettysburg National Battleground there's a memorial of a mortally wounded Confederate Officer being helped by a Union Officer, both were Masons. During WW II there are cases of German soldiers helping imprisoned or wounded Americans with extra food or medical care. The list goes on & on!!
We look forward to seeing & hearing from you. Take care!!!
