From the East 2023

Brethren,

Let me start off by saying it is truly an honor to be elected as Worshipful Master for 2023 term. I would also like to congratulate the new officers of Seneca. I am looking forward to working with all of you and am excited to see what this year holds for us. When I first stepped off with my left foot, I was unsure of the path ahead, but knew it would be one worth taking. As many know I started my Masonic Journey in Rhode Island and was lucky enough to have a great line of brothers/mentors to help me navigate the craft. In 2019 I moved to Torrington, I saw there was a Masonic Lodge close by and reached out to WB Joseph Albanese to introduce myself. Right away I was taken in with open arms and treated as if I have always been there. It was one of the best feelings a man could have, to move to an unfamiliar place and because of the Craft, right away felt as if I fit in.

Through my time with Seneca, I have gained so much I feel I can never repay. I have been blessed with more fantastic mentors both from Seneca as well as the district. I have formed strong everlasting bonds with the brothers, and we will continue to strengthen those bonds which in turn will strengthen The Craft. I am fortunate to have a strong line of support consisting of past Grand Masters, Grand Lodge Officials, Past Masters, and an officer line up for 2023 that is top notch. Most of all I am fortunate to have Brothers who I know I can count on and who can count on me.

Brothers, I am really looking forward to what we have instore. Our plan is to continue the great degree work Seneca is known for. We also are going to commit to community action efforts in Torrington, family events, ladies’ nights, movie nights, DeMolay/Rainbow events, and fun programs for our 2nd meetings of the month. This is not a one man show and we will all be working diligently together to execute the plans we have in place.

Brothers, we all start as poor blind candidates desirous of being brought from darkness to light. We all know how darkness feels, and in today’s world there seems to be more darkness than light. It is incumbent upon us as Masons, to be the light. In your day to day trials and tribula- tions/interactions with the world, remember your obligations, use your working tools, and above all keep in mind you are what someone thinks of when they think of Masonry.

Fraternally,

Rob Namias

Worshipful Master 2023

From the East 2021

Brethren,

I am humbled and honored to have been elected to the position of Worshipful Master of Seneca Lodge. I want to thank you all for putting your trust in me to lead our Lodge in 2020. I would also like to congratulate the new Officers of Seneca Lodge; I am looking forward to working together with every one of you to insure that 2020 is a successful year for our Lodge.

It has been quite a journey for me so far. When I first started out in Masonry, only 5 short years ago, I had no intention of going through the chairs, but after sitting in as Junior Steward pro tem, and with the help of my mentor WB Scott Rosengrant, I never looked back. Seneca Lodge has started down a road of improvements and successes, and I intend to keep us going straight down this road, avoiding the detours and potholes that loom.

Seneca Lodge is known for providing meaningful and rewarding degree work for our new Brothers. It is my plan to improve upon our past successes and provide an even greater presentation of the degrees by continually honing our ritual work to make them better for both the candidates/brothers, as well as more rewarding for the degree teams. We will continue our monthly mentoring sessions to provide guidance and instruction for both our new Brothers, and those “older” Brothers who wish to “improve themselves in Masonry”.

Although ritual work is important, it is not the only thing that we as Masons need to work on. Our obligations speak of brotherly love and self-governance; our charges speak to how we should conduct ourselves as men and Masons. Let us not forget these, for they are what makes us Masons. Keep them both at the forefront of your thoughts each day. Keep striving to move yourself farther away from the Rough Ashlar, and closer to the Perfect Ashlar.

I would like to challenge all Brothers who haven’t been to Lodge on a regular basis to attend at least one meeting this year. It is heartwarming to me to see Brothers that I haven’t seen in a while, or to meet a Brother for the first time.

We will also have more family related activities, including a summer picnic, a Lady’s Appreciation Dinner, and our 2nd annual Holiday Party. I’m looking forward to a great year for Seneca, and I hope to see you in Lodge soon!

Fraternally,

Daniel Reeve
