Out of order motion from our 2024-01-02 Regular Communication:

Motion to create an online payment service for the Lodge with option to cover processing fees was made, seconded, and passed.

Motion was out of order as approved per SML Bylaw II.3. A lodge member paying by credit card shall be responsible for the payment of all processing, service, and vendor fees associated with the transaction. (Approved GL 06-05-20).

Thankfully, neither of the online payment methods available, Zelle or Grandview, charge fees to the Lodge. Zelle does not appear to have fees and Grandview automatically includes processing fees with the member payment.

Recommended updated motion: Create an online payment service for the Lodge, with associated processing fees the responsibility of the member paying.

Dues were due 01/01 and given the continued delay in getting payment processing up and running through Grandview, the Brethren voted to enable onlice payments through our bank. If you wish to utilize this method, you will need a Zelle account through your app store to send funds to secretary@sandiamountainlodge.org. You can find your balance due in your Grandview-NM portal. This is an imperfect and temporary solution.

On behalf of MWB Pogue and per discussion at our meeting:

Proposed Grand Lodge Bylaws changes for George Washington Masonic National Memorial

Worshipful Master and Brethren of Sandia Mountain Lodge #72,

I sent an exploratory letter to all New Mexico Lodges proposing a Bylaws change to codify the Grand Lodge's contribution to the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The following is the proposed Bylaws change for your Lodge consideration.

Code 61.  Annual Budget.

At each Annual Budget Meeting of the Grand Lodge, held no later than November 30 in Albuquerque, the Committee on Accounts, Ways, and Means shall present a budget to the Grand Lodge for consideration and approval.  Any budget so adopted shall take effect on April 1 of the following year and remain in effect until the following March 31.
The budget shall include allowances for all:

1. Salaries,
2. Travel,
3. Compensation for clerical assistants appointed by the Grand Secretary,
4. Necessary expenses of the Grand Secretary's office,
5. Necessary travel and subsistence expenses of members of the Board of Directors and of standing or special committees,
6. Annual one-dollar per capita contribution to the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.  Such per capita contribution shall be based on the total Master Masons borne on its roll as regular members subject to per capita dues on January 1 of each year.
7. Library acquisitions as determined by the Grand Secretary,
8. Premiums on official bonds and,
9. Any other necessary expense for the efficient operation of the Grand Lodge activities.  Any Grand Lodge Committee requesting funds, other than routinely budgeted amounts, shall submit such requests to the office of the Grand Secretary on or before July 1 preceding the Budget Meeting.

I ask for your Lodge's sponsorship of this proposed amendment at the upcoming Grand Lodge Communication.  You and the Grand Lodge will decide at that time whether or not to approve this Bylaws change.

The George Washington Memorial celebrates the values and integrity of a man who continues to exemplify Freemasonry.  Please join 38 other Grand Lodges in honoring his life and symbolizing Freemasonry.

Drawing will take place at SM72 December regular communication 12/5/23 Sandia Mountain Lodge No. 72 (SM72) will pay up to $5000.00 toward the endowed membership of the Masonic Body of the winner’s choice. All blue lodges and appendant bodies in amity with the Grand Lodge of New Mexico with endowed memberships are eligible. If the endowed membership costs more than $5000, the winner is responsible for the difference. If the winner has a combination of two endowments that total less than $5000 that is acceptable. Any remainder of $5000 after endowment purchase will remain with SM72. If total sales by 12/01/23 do not total $10,000, then the payout will convert to a 50/50 style split. Tickets on sale through 12/1/23. Drawing will take place at SM72 December regular communication 12/5/23. SM72 proceeds to benefit our Building Fund.

Regular dues are now $150 ($95 SML dues, $55 GL per capita per bylaws) with our 50/80 crew just owing the $55 GL portion. Email notices will be going out shortly. If you have questions about your charges, please reach out.

NOTE: There is not an option for paying online or via credit card at this time. This has not been enabled as yet for the NM Grandview instance. Please DO NOT pay through Groupable/OLP - not entirely sure where these would end up.
