Raritan Valley Lodge No. 46 traces its history to 1767 and the "Lodge at Basking Ridge," one of the earliest Masonic lodges in New Jersey, and Solomon’s Lodge No. 1, which received its New Jersey Grand Lodge charter in 1787, as well as Solomon’s Lodge No. 46, which was chartered in Somerville, NJ in 1857. Our lodge has met continuously in Somerville since 1857 and in 2005 merged with Eastern Star Lodge No. 105 of Bound Brook, forming Raritan Valley Lodge No. 46.

Throughout its history Raritan Valley Lodge No. 46 has contributed to the vibrancy and growth of Somerville and the greater Somerset County area. Lodge members laid the cornerstone of the Historic Somerset County Courthouse Building in 1907 and re-dedicated the cornerstone during a 100th anniversary celebration in 2007.

The members of Raritan Valley Lodge No. 46 come from many walks of life and occupations. Our members are Lawyers, Accountants, Police Officers, Electricians, Plumbers, Building Contractors and many other professions. Although the professions are varied, we all share a common bond in the belief in the Deity, a sense of the community, and a desire to belong to a society of friendship, morality, brotherly love and charity.
