6JUNE2025 RE: AUGUST MEETING Dear Brother, Please accept my personal invitation to join us for August’s lodge meeting. 18 AUGUST 2025 Dinner at 6pm Meeting starts at 7pm I have spent the last few weeks struggling to write a letter that covers everything succinctly. The last few years have been pivotal for our lodge. They have also brought us to a challenging place requiring a conversation among all of us. If for some reason you cannot attend, please mail, email, text, or call me with your thoughts. Summary: 2024 Significant reduction in membership (demit, deceased, or NPD totaling ~20) 2024 Hurricane Helene hit Canton and caused catastrophic damage to the lodge 2024 Lodge insurance denied coverage 2024 SBA application was applied for; they turned us down without an official denial 2024/2025 Waynesville Lodge (No. 259) graciously offered to host us for our meetings 2025 FEMA and NCEM are pending, no answer either way currently 2025 Building scheduled for demo (waiting on date) 2025 Grand Lodge / Masonic Charities cannot offer financial support Financial Status: 40 current master masons:
Annual income from dues: $4,116.50 Operating account: <$2,000 Building fund: ~$1,000 In our August meeting, I feel it is essential to have a discussion regarding our future. If that discussion leads to a motion, I want all of you there to be part of this. I am not writing this to sway anyone in one direction or the other. I write this to share facts as I have them. I humbly submit the facts above to each of you. Please think them over. Please come to the meeting to be present for decisions regarding our future. I hope to see all of you in August for our stated communication. Fraternally, Grayson Chretien (W.M. 2025) 434.531.8498 gchretie@vt.edu |
