Brothers, The Okemos Lodge # 252 development fund's (OMDF / originally Mahlke Fund) 2026 annual meeting is next Thursday October 22, 2026, 6PM at the Lodge. The meeting is open to all Lodge Brothers, and guests. The Fund's history, current status, and future will be presented by Kiley Eory CFP®, ChFC®, EA, President of Waggoner Financial, the Fund's management firm. Kiley does a great job with the presentation and questions each year. This information is also very valuable to your own retirement / investment accounts. We strongly suggest that any Brothers who are available attend this presentation. As our building ages this fund will be crucial in maintaining the future integrity of our Lodge / building. Committee Reports: Delinquent Dues: Bob Helmic / Joesph Bonsall reported - Committee (Helmic, Cook, Bonsall, Chamberlin) reported – The 2026 Dues Committee initially received 17 names to address, first pass of efforts reduced this to 7 names. The loss of two Brothers (Steven Schrumpf Passed & Mike Logan demitted) reduced it further. By September there was only one name remaining for “Delinquent Dues” Scott McAuley. Multiple and continued attempts to reach Scott were completed. Final response (via text) from Scott indicated he was disillusioned by the Lodge and indicated “He was only contacted at Dues time”. Bonsall & Nevells sent Scott Grand View registration instruction and forwarded all Lodge Emails directly to his email address. (which was current in grand View and for the Newsletters). MOTION: (Voss/Pulice) Bonsall to text & Nevells (Secretary) to Email Scott his Options available to be completed by 9/30/26. He can submitted his Dues or chose to be Demitted (options for re-instatement & Transfer). If no response by 09/30/2026 from Scott he will be “Suspended” for “Non-Payment of Dues”. Motion passed unanimously OMCA Ken Cook OMCA President reported- Thank you to Joe Bonsall for repairs & new upholstery to Lodge Room line chairs Bob Helmic Thank You “Master Weeder” and general outside maintenance. Consumers completed installation of Gas lines to building. The Consumers worker had issues with re-lighting pilot lights throughout the building once gas was restored. John & Chritina Pulice worked the issues along with Ken Cook. All competed (furnaces, stoves, etc.) EXCEPT the hot water heater. Pilot light valve frozen (damaged?) Ken has / is working on a CLAIM TO Consumers Energy, expectations low on any fruitful outcome . This is a very old hot water heater, and the OMCA board recommends replacing it. Michigan Health department regulations (as established by our building size / # faucets etc.) require keeping the 100 Galon size. 100 Gal Water Heater cost approx.. $10,980. Second option is two 50 gallon heaters (which is acceptable to Health department / if installed correctly) Total cost for 2 is $3,680. Motion (Nevells) Present a “Form A to OMDF for $5,000 for Hot Water Heater purchase & installation. Any remaining funds will be carried over in OMCA contingency fund for future emergency needs. Motion seconded by Jorgensen – Motion passed unanimously. Rental Coordinator John Pulice reports continued / usual rentals – discussions by Board on increasing rentals (income) and the condition of the Rental Space (Dinning room / lower level). Painting Walls first considered- further review prioritized floor Main Dining room floor: Immediate need / results it will be cleaned, stripped and waxed professionally (tradition vendor) . Bob Helmic coordinating completion ASAP. Long term – to replace old worn out floor tiles (most likely asbestos). Several option being reviewed and quotes obtained. Including Concrete polish/finish, Epoxy, vinal titles, Sheet vinal. | . It is with great sorry that I have to inform our brothers about the passing of our Brother John William Findley. Brother Fiddley was raised on 05/09/2019 and was an active member of the Okemos Masonic Lodge #252. OBITUARY John William Findley November 20, 1941 – June 6, 2026 IN THE CARE OF Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes John William Findley, 84, passed on June 6, 2026. Born November 20, 1941, in Lansing, Michigan, he was a resident of Bath, Michigan. I am so very excited and pleased to announce the Winners for our 11th annual (2025/2026 school year) Bike For Books program. As you can see from the summary below this was the best event held yet to date. I will also post below the winners' names by school. Please review and let me know which names I misspelled, some forms are very hard to read. Additionally, below is the Awards Schedule we have so far. PLEASE if you haven't scheduled your Bike Awards day and time yet, let me know as soon as possible. This continues to be a wonderful program for our Kids and its great success is largely credited to the wonderful Staff and support we get from All the Schools and both Libraries every year. | Brothers, The next few days have some great Masonic activities and oportunities to share them with our fellow brothers. Sunday May 17, 2026 Oklahoma Masonic Indian Degree Team 3:00 PM @ Soaring Eagle Casino & resort. I know of several brothers that are going from our Lodge and local Lodges. This looks to be a popular event and should be well attened by Lodges form arounf the State. I will be driving myself and Brother Scott Jorgesen to thsi event. There are no costs or tickets required, it is first come first serve. I plan on leaving Okemos at 9:00 am on Sunday. If you would like to ride with us pleae call me at 517-285-8733. The Masonic Lodge #252 - Bikes for Books Program Drawing entry deadline is 5:00 PM Friday May 8, 2025 The B4B Form submittal deadline is tomorrow (Friday May 8). We will be drawing the winning entry forms (By school & Grade) Wednesday 5/13 at the Lodge (7:00 PM). On Monday 5/11 we need to stop by all the schools and both Libraries to pick up any hard copy completed entry forms they have. I can go to any schools or libraries as needed, just let me know if you are not going to be able to get to your assigned School or Library by Tuesday 5/12. Pleasant, Michigan It is my honor to invite you to the 200th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan, a celebration of 200 years of leadership, service, and dedication by the Michigan Masons. During this landmark session, you will hear a report of the year’s activities and review future programs, initiatives, and budgets for your consideration. Proposed changes to our Blue Book regulations will be presented, and you will elect the Grand Lodge Officers who will help lead us into our third century in 2026–2027. You will also experience the dignity and ceremony that define our fraternity while reconnecting with brothers from all 238 lodges in Michigan and with brethren from other jurisdictions. Brothers, 2026 is a historic year for our Grand Lodge as we celebrate its bicentennial. There are many events planned and thus many opportunities for us to participate. We can also coordinate car-pooling and rendezvous as we know who will be attending each event. Pleasant, MI REGISTRATION NOW OPEN 200th ANNIVERSARY GALA Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, is the official 200th Anniversary of the formation of the Grand Lodge the Michigan! We invite you to join us in Lansing for a special Bicentennial Celebration. The day will begin with a special presentation at the Capitol during the House Session. The session opens at 1:30 p.m. There is limited first-come, first-served seating in the House gallery. Following the presentation, all Masons are encouraged to take part in a special photo op on the Capitol steps! We will then head over to the Lansing Center for a special viewing of the 200th Anniversary Documentary, followed by a Gala/Dinner. The Gala/Dinner is $50 per person and is open to all to attend. A LIGHT ON THE LAKES DOCUMENTARY As part of the bicentennial celebration of Michigan Freemasonry, a new documentary titled A Light On The Lakes shares the story of how Freemasons helped shape Michigan over the past two centuries. Created by Ben Tigner, Director of Marketing & PR, the film features interviews with Masons and historians from across the state, along with rare archival photographs that highlight the leadership, service, and lasting impact of Michigan Masons in communities statewide.
