Welcome to Oak Island Lodge No. 758!
History
In 1981 a request was made to the Grand Lodge of AM & AF of N.C. for a charter to form a new lodge in the town of Long Beach, N.C. (Now known as Oak Island, N.C.) On April 4, 1982 the Lodge received its Charter with Fifty-Four Charter Members.
The first meeting was held at the Harbor House on December 11, 1980 to lay the plans. Second meeting on January 15, 1981 was in the meeting room in Town Hall. Future meetings were held at the AGAPE Inn around the 6400 block of East Oak Island Drive thanks to the courtesy of Ocean View Methodist Church and Jone's Seafood Restaurant. March 1984-January 1985 meetings were held at the Oak Island Moose Club and we are grateful to them for their courtesies. First Worshipful Master Basil Faulk, PM received a letter from the Grand Master on October 1, 1981 that our dispensation was granted
Talents were used by local Master Masons and local people to construct the current building in which is located at 2408 E. Oak Island Drive in 1984. A retired Army Officer (Reginald "Bill" Jackson) who had moved to the island and had visions of a Masonic Lodge used his own funds to purchase the land for Oak Island Masonic Lodge #758. A "Bill Jackson Award" is given each year in his rememberance and dedication to Masonry. Jaunuary 1985 the First Stated Communication was held in the Lodge Room. August 11, 1986 construction of Oak Island Lodge #758 was completed. Cornerstone was laid November 16, 1985.
November 6, 2022 the Lodge was set on fire. No outside damage was done but the foyer area was completed destroyed. The rest of the building suffered major smoke damage. The Lodge continued meeting/giving to the community without hesitation. Thanks to Pythagoras Lodge #249 (Southport, NC) in allowing us to hold Lodge meetings there until January 2024.
February 15, 2024 Oak Island Masonic Lodge was able to conduct its first meeting in a newly renovated building. A Re-Dedication of Oak Island Masonic Lodge #758 was held on June 8, 2024 with Grand Master Don Kehler and other dignitaries in attendance.
Thanks to all who made it possible for Master Masons to have such a wonderful place to meet and continue to promote Masonry on a daily basis!!!
