To all Brethren of Newport Lodge #118, You are a member of a small but mighty Lodge. Newport has never been a "big" Lodge, but we have been huge in spirit and commitment. There are a lot of amazing things that your Lodge has been doing over the last few years. And we are doing it with just a handful of extremely dedicated Brothers. Yes, we would like to see you at our Stated Meeting, but also helping to continue the legacy of Newport. Some of you are members to continue on with the legacy of your family. Some of you are members in search of some lessons to keep improving yourself. Some of you are members because you want to do good works. And some are members to have friendships and fellowship. All of those are true but we need your help to continue to do all that for our Members, their families, their community, and their country. Help us. On Monday we will have MWB Ethan Seaberg who was Grand Master of Masons in Minnesota as our guest. He is also a new Regional Director of Support for the Grand Lodge. He is tasked with helping Lodges be the best that they can. We Invited MWB Ethan to our Lodge on Monday to talk about engagement or maybe it would be called reengagement of our current members. We would like your input as well. What can Newport Lodge do to provide you with a more fulfilling experience? Your honesty and integrity to address this is urgently needed. On Monday, we will also have a great meal prepared by our Chaplain, Brother Tom Burbank, and we will have Dairy Queen cake for dessert provided by our Junior Warden, WB Hunter Petit. Dinner gives us a time to reacquaint ourselves and catch up on what has been happening in our busy lives. And, yes, we all have busy lives. And, yes, we all recognize that. There are only 24 hours in the day. We don't make time, we only make priorities of the time we have to the best of our ability. So, on behalf of the Master, all the officers, and ALL the members of Newport Lodge, if you live in the area, please attend our meeting on Monday. Dinner will be at 6 pm, with the meeting starting at 7 pm. Fraternally, RWB Frank Spevak Master Newport Lodge 2001 Lodge Education Officer Grand Lodge Treasurer |

Hello,
Let's try this again. Last time we had to delay the delivery at the last minute. Hamish, the traveling cow trophy has been found and is back in our care. Hamish was presented to us last April by Mizpah Lodge. Hamish made a journey to Grand Lodge and was abducted while on display with the rest of the traveling trophies from around the state.
As tradition dictates we now need to pass Hamish on to a new lodge. Three Brothers from Newport Lodge are needed to properly deliver the trophy. We have an opportunity to do so this Monday, October 23, at Hector Lodge in St Paul. They meet at 6:30. The address is 1898 Iglehart Ave Saint Paul, .MN 55104. If you are interested in helping deliver Hamish please let me know. Frank says the dress code is coat and tie.
Thank you for your consideration and have a nice evening,

Hello,
I hope all is well with you and your family and friends. This message is a reminder that the June 12th lodge meeting will be held at Jack Morehouse’s assisted living apartment building instead of the lodge. The facility is located at 1850 University Ave W, in St. Paul, MN. This building is part of the Episcopal senior housing complex. It is not far from where Porky's restaurant used to be, for those familiar with St Paul history. There are no stairs to navigate to get to the room where the meeting will be held. There is plenty of space in the room. A light dinner, sandwiches chips etc., will be served starting at 6pm. The lodge meeting we'll begin at 7:00pm. A special desert or perhaps after meeting snack will be served. It should be a nice evening. If you plan on attending please let me know so I can get the right amount of food. Those of you that have replied already, thank you for letting me know.
If you would like to attend and would like a ride let me know and I will try to get you one.
I hope to see you there. Good luck and have a nice evening,

Hello,
I hope you are having a nice Memorial Day weekend. First off, I would like to say thank you to all those that served in our country’s military. Without your efforts and sacrifices we would not be where we are today.
Next, as Steve mentioned in a previous notice, the June stated meeting will be moved to WB Jack Morehouse’s Assisted Living bldg. located at 1850 University Ave W, in St. Paul, MN. This building is part of the Episcopal senior housing complex. It is not far from where Porky's restaurant used to be. We will be having a light dinner before the meeting at the facility. We will be bringing in the food so I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know if you plan on attending. You can call or text me at 651-500-5356 (please leave a message if I don’t answer) or email at ja_irvine@hotmail.com. The room is on the ground floor and is easily accessible. There is off street parking, but spaces cannot be reserved, so please consider carpooling if possible. If you would like to attend but would like a ride to the meeting, please let me know and we can try and get you one. It should be a nice evening, and all can attend a meeting without having to navigate any stairs!
The lodge participated in the St Paul Park Gardens in the Park event earlier this month. A big thank you to those that set up the event and manned the cookie booth. This event was sponsored by the St Paul Park recreation department. They are the same folks that organize the movies in the park events that the lodge supports. More information will be sent out this summer regarding opportunities to help with movies.
We will be having the annual pancake breakfast in conjunction with Heritage Days this year. I was told by the St Paul Park parks and recreation director that Heritage Days will be moved back to the third weekend in August. This is good news as the following weekend is the Shrine MSA event in Alexandria. Now you can attend both if you like.
All the above would have made a nice article for the Fraternal Focus that Sue Bay publishes each month, if I would have made the deadline. Sue does a great job with the newsletter, and I apologize for not getting the article in on time.
Finally, a reminder that the lodge will be going dark for July and August. I hope you, your families and friends have a safe and happy summer. Enjoy the nice weather and long days,
Jim Irvine
