Sadness  on 03/19/2024

I am saddened to report the passing of brother Charles Sipes. Below is the information as given to me. The local lodge in which he attended will be providing masonic rites at the service.

Charles Sipes, 82, of Marianna, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024, after a long illness.

He was born on August 15, 1941, in Los Angeles, California. In May 1960, Charles joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country for 24 years before retiring. July 12, 1980, he married Edna and together they traveled across the United States while he served in the Marines and Edna served in the Navy. In 2013 they moved to Marianna where they enjoyed retirement.

Charles was a very active member and belonged to many Masonic Bodies throughout his life and was a mentor to many people over the years until his passing. He was a Master Mason and served as Worshipful Master Mason of the Lodge.

He was also an active member of the Grand York Rite. He is a past Grand Commander, Past Illustrious Grand Master, and Past Grand High Priest of Utah. He was recently bestowed the honor of receiving his red hat with the Scottish Rite organization. He was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Charles and Edna were members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marianna. He touched the lives of many people and will be missed by everyone who came in contact with him.

Charles is survived by his wife Edna; daughter, Ceri Edwards, of Texas; grandsons, Alexander and Christopher, of Texas; numerous great-grandchildren as well as a brother, David and his wife, Betty of Utah.

A Celebration of Life service will be 12 noon, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St Luke’s Episcopal Church in Marianna, Florida. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the McKinnon Parrish Hall at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

The family requests flowers and plants be omitted but donations may be made to either the Knights Templar Eye Foundation or a charity of your choice in Charles’ memory.

Stated Meeting for March  on 03/14/2024

Bretheren,

It was another great meeting tonight and a lot was accomplished. We examined a fellow craft so we will be looking for a third degree very soon. We restored a brother and even had a visitor from Mt Hoereb lodge. The next meeting is March 28. This is our scholarship dinner so it should be a good one. Hope to see you soon.

Fellow Craft work  on 03/05/2024

Bretheren,

We have successfully conferred the Fellow Craft Degree on Feb 29. I apologize that the email did not go out to everyone before the degree. I updated the calendar but did not click the necessary buttons for the email to go out. However all went well and the degree went off without any problems. There were several brothers from visiting lodges and all had a good time. The next meeting is Thursday March 14 followed by the scholarship dinner on March 28. If you make one meeting this year make the scholarship dinner. We are planning a good time.

Official Visit  on 02/09/2024

We have successfully survived and passsed our annual Official visit from the district deputy officers. All went well and it was a another great meeting. We had a great meal and great conversation. Maybe it's just me but I really feel a lot of good energy coming from masonry in general this year. I have seen this from the bretheren in the lodge, now from the district representatives and by extension the Grand Lodge.

Our entered apprentice proved proficiency in spectacular form and we have already been practicing for the second. We have another practice scheduled for Tuesday February 13 at 6pm, if you can come out please do. I will let you know as soon as we set the date for the second. In the meantime, we have a stated meeting Thursday Febuary 22 at 7 pm. The next "event' is at our stated on March 28. This is our lodges date to host the Onslow Masonic Scholarship dinner. We are putting a lot of effort into this one so if you pick only one meeting to attend this year make this the one. I will get more info out as this gets closer.

If you are not using the grandview app or website you should consider doing so. I understand that not everyone is tech savvy but there is a lot of information there and is a great way to keep up and interact with the lodge. It's not perfect, but getting better all the time and the officers are working hard to keep it updated and relevant.

 Hope to see you soon.

January 25 Meeting  on 01/26/2024

Brethren,

It was another great meeting, leading to a few things to report. First, we have a new entered appreciate, bro. Ian Wittenbrook who is well on the way to proficiency thanks to his coach Wbro. Tom Riales. With that we are Starting to prepare for a second degree. We will have practice next Tuesday the 30th at 6 PM. The master says he will have us some snacks waiting. It also looks like Lafayette lodge will be having a third degree, Past masters degree on that same night. So if you can't make practice that will be a great degree to attend. We also have finally received the dues cards for 2024 I will start getting them out this weekend. Thanks so much for your patience. Regular meetings for February are the 8th  and the 22nd. March will be the 14th and the 28th , with the 28th  being our scholarship dinner. We’re going to have an Irish themed menu in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day. Support is specifically needed for this to help raise money for the Onslow county scholarship fund.
