Emergent Communication — September 17, 2026On Thursday, September 17, Joseph Warren Lodge No. 92 had the distinct honor of initiating Thomas L. Johnson, Jr. and Joseph M. McLamb as the newest Entered Apprentices of our Lodge. Additionally, we initiated Harold J. Averette as a courtesy to Mount Lebanon Lodge No. 117. These three men took their first step in Masonry surrounded by thirty brethren who came together to witness and support this important occasion. Our Emergent Communication was preceded by a meal of chili beans, prepared by Renate Harper (Allan). The meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all and provided an opportunity for fellowship before the evening's work. With all that we have accomplished this year, returning to the work of our gentle craft has remained the priority. It has been my steadfast belief that, if we remained committed to the principles and traditions of our fraternity, we could attract quality candidates. Each of you has played a role in making that possible. Last night, we enjoyed the fruits of our labor. We gathered within the confines of our sacred retreat, beneath the watchful eyes of Past Masters dating back to the inception of our Lodge in November of 1825. Due to the disrepair of the Masonic Hall in Stantonsburg, this was the first time we have performed degree work surrounded by “our great cloud of witnesses” since we raised Brother S.A.G. on September 4, 2014. For many of us, it was a homecoming. We were surrounded by the memories and presence of those who came before us, and the significance of returning degree work to our Lodge was not lost on anyone in attendance. Many familiar faces from Mount Lebanon, Lucama, Hiram, and Relief Lodges gathered with us to commemorate this occasion. We were also pleased to welcome new faces from those Lodges, along with visiting brethren from Bladen Lodge. Regardless of Lodge or location, each and every one of them was, and is, a Brother. Encompassed by the weight of our history, the air was filled with anticipation and enthusiasm. W:. Mason Dyer served as Degree Master, with W:. Larry Williford as Senior Warden and Alex Ellis as Junior Warden. The Degree team was completed by:
Following the Degree, many brethren remained well beyond our normal departing time to continue the fellowship. The last of us finally locked the doors at midnight. In the words of our departed W:. Brother Bobby Glover of Lucama Lodge No. 527:
I believe those words capture the evening perfectly. We welcome Brothers Johnson, McLamb, and Averette into the fraternity and look forward to sharing in their Masonic journey and witnessing their continued progress. Brethren, I encourage each of you to visit your Lodge, participate in its work, and experience the joy that comes from brotherly love, relief, and truth. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this evening possible. The work of our Lodge continues, and last night reminded us of what can be accomplished when we labor together. | At our SC on September 3, 2026, the Brethren with W:. Alex Ellis presiding, presented W:. Mason Dyer with his 25 year service award and W:. Roger Bynum with his 50 year Veterans Certificate. W:. Mason Dyer was Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on 1 February 2001. We congratulate W:. Dyer on his quarter century of service to the Fraternity. We look forward to his continuing contributions to the work in our quarry. W:. Roger Bynum was Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on 6 May 1976. W:. Bynum has served as Master of the Lodge six (6) times, served as a coach and mentor to many Brothers, prepared numerous meals, and provided a steady influence to our gentle craft. *** This is a coat and tie event. *** Brethren, An Emergent Communication is hereby scheduled on September 17th, 2026 at 7:30pm for the purpose of initiating Messrs Thomas Johnson and Joseph McLamb into our gentle craft. This is a most notable event and it is my hope that all of you will make the utmost effort to be in attendance. A meal will precede the SC at 6:45pm and be hosted by the WBs Harper. Most of the roles have been assigned for the Degree. Please review your assignments through a previous email/invitation through Grandview. Brethren, Considering our most recent initiation was on November 2, 2017, I thought practice went well Monday evening. We all know that quality Degree work, performed with care and excellence, leaves a lasting impression. Our candidates are excited. I sensed excitement among the brethren Monday night. Finally, we are in a great position. Good men know other good men, and the experience they have in our Lodge will shape how they speak about us to others. I appreciate the dedication each of you has shown through our past challenges. I look forward to the upcoming Degrees and to forging meaningful relationships with our newest members and, I look forward to a full house on September 17. S&F, Alex |

Feast of Saint John the Baptist Day & America 250 Celebration What an incredible day at Joseph Warren Lodge! We were honored to welcome more than 60 neighbors, friends, family members, Brothers, and Sisters as we celebrated the Feast of Saint John the Baptist Day, America's upcoming Semiquincentennial, and opened our doors to the community. Following our open house, everyone enjoyed some of the finest Eastern North Carolina barbecue you'll ever taste. Many thanks to all who helped make the day such a success. A special note of appreciation goes to W:. Brother Allan Harper and W:. Brother Tyler Harper for roasting the pig to perfection, and to W:. Brother Alan Winstead for generously providing the delicious side dishes. My Brothers truly are the best Brothers! The excitement from the day continued. By July 2, we had already received two petitions, both of which were read at our Stated Communication that evening. While Joseph Warren Lodge is normally "dark" during the summer months, petitions always take precedence over darkness. We look forward to returning to the work for which we were chartered and to welcoming these good men as they begin their Masonic journey.
