Brethren, If you have read the minutes distributed this morning, you will note the discussion relating to the purchase of a new piece of kitchen equipment. Having performed the evaluation, it is my opinion that this equipment is not only necessary, but a good investment. On the advice of the Worshipful Master, I am putting out this call for donations from the brethren to offset the cost to the lodge for the purchase of this equipment, if your ability to give permits. Your donation can either be mailed to the lodge at PO Box 302, Newton, NJ 07860, or handed to the Secretary directly. It will be included with my own donation and turned over to Bro Treasurer. The total donation will be reported at a future meeting and included in the resulting minutes. Dear Brothers, Families, Friends et al,
I am proud to announce that we have a preliminary itinerary (attached) for our September 27-29, 2024 Harmony Lodge Washington DC Trip! I have also attached a security form that will be used to gain access to The FBI and/or The White House. We are now accepting reservations for this trip for up to 50 passengers. Reservations will be on a first come first serve basis. If more than 50 people sign up, a waiting list will be started. This is our first trip since 2019 due to the pandemic. Things have returned to some kind of normalcy, but inflation and time have impacted our pricing and we had to eliminate the
Saturday night show due to large incenses in prices since 2019. The fare is $400 per adult and $300 for children 12 and under for the 3 days. We will provide an optional play or performance for Saturday night and the price for tickets, as they are available. This will be a separate fee in order to participate. It's included in the itinerary as optional event.
We have again secured the services of our favorite bus driver Dave Lewis of Passaic Valley Coaches. We are also planning to stay at the Embassy Suites Tyson Corner in Vienna, VA which features a big buffet breakfast and a Manger's Reception each evening. The three days are packed with many venues.
The FBI Tour (not since the 1990s) and the International Spy Museum are new to our most recent trips. We also have a singular occurrence as the New Jersey Grand Master of Masons, MW Lenard Vander Horn, will be placing a Wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns on Saturday circa 12:15pm. Our entranceto the FBI on Friday has a wrinkle, which is new...they allow only 30 persons on a tour! So, we had to get a little creative. We have added a Ford's Theater Tour/Museum/Peterson House/Shops as an alternative vendue. When you make your reservation you will choose either the FBI or Ford's Theatre Tour.
Also, I must submit your information to Congressman Kean's Office for their submittal to the FBI by April 26th. Only names are needed for the Capitol Tour, but I must input your information to the Secret Service Screening Office. By popular request, we have included the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Center in Chantilly, VA. It's 4 to 5 times the size of The Air & Space Museum on The National Mall and has lots to see & do. They even have a replica of the Liberty Airport Tower in Newark. NJ.
We are hopeful that all the venues we submitted to Congressman Kean's Office will be approved and at the times requested. If any do not meet our request, we will work with Dave and provide a substitute venue(s) and modify the itinerary accordingly. There's much to do in DC and as Ray Scwartz used to say, "please stay flexible". So, you should make your reservation as soon as possible. We are asking for a $150 per person deposit for adults and $100 deposit for children and the completed security form by no later than April 26! I have to provide the FBI information to Congressman Kean's office no later than that date and we have certain deposits to make to the hotel and bus company.
Please make your checks payable to Harmony Lodge Foundation and mail to me at 312 Cardinal Ct, Ledgewood, NJ 07852. Deposits are due before April 26th. I will be depositing the checks and managing the information. Also, if you care to pay all your fare initially, that's fine. For those who are doing deposits only, the balance is due no later than June 15th.
We hope you can come on the DC Trip this year. It's going to be a fun time!

I want to thank everyone who participated in last night's GLI. It was a huge success. Even though Harmony did not specifically get called on to perform a piece of work, many of our brethren filled in for the other lodges which made everything run smooth.
I want to also thank everyone who helped set up, break down and work in the kitchen. We got plenty of comments as to the way we presented the lodge and prepared the food. We set the bar high for the follow on GLIs

At the last regular communication we discussed the proposition to pay our landscaper for clearing the area behind lodge to open up some access to the trout stream. The idea being to provide fishing access in advance of our planned "fisherman's breakfast" fundraiser in April. The contractor's estimate was $2,000.00. After review, the number seems reasonable for the effort & area in question. However, it was decided to be too large an amount for the lodge to fund at this time. Afterwards, our Junior Warden suggested that we ask the brethren at large to help fund this effort by making donations. He reasoned that if the brethren all gave just a little, we could easily reach that goal. So, it is in this spirit of giving that we ask for your support in this endeavor.

Regarding blue cards for 2024. You have a couple of options. Everyone is supposed to be registered in the Grandview system. This is the only means by wihich Grand Lodge communicates with the brethren. Once registered, you will receive all communication. You will also have access to a digital copy of your blue card as well as the ability to print your own card. However, you must note that even thought you can print the card, it does not mean that your 2024 dues have been paid. Once registered, you can view your own account and see if you have a balance due. If you ask me directly for a card, I will provide one once you have paid your current year's dues. We will work out how you will receive it after payment is made. I hope that this clarifies the issue and we can avoid uneccessary confusion going forward.

Brethren:
Our next Bread of Life event will be on January 27th and our coordinator Brother Dave King is asking for a roll call. He will be making pasta but obviously we will need more food donations and folks to help out. We’ve been doing a great job and I thank all who helped out and made this so successful so far.
I ask that you respond to Brother King at davelk19662000@yahoo.com with what you can do to help out this month.

Our nextBread of Life event is scheduled for Saturday, December 23, 2023, which is the Saturday before Christmas. While I realize this could be a burden for many, we all need to understand how much this means to the people who show up looking for our assistance. Your assistance is needed between 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. This would involve meeting at the lodge to help pack up, driving to the site to set up, final preparations, serving food, cleaning up and putting everything away at the back at the lodge. While we would love you there the whole time, any time you can contribute will help and would be greatly appreciated. Please put the date into your calendar so we can count on you. I ask that you respond to this email either way so I know who we can count on. Since this effort takes a lot of preparation, we will be at the lodge the night before starting around 7PM or so to start the cooking and enjoy some fellowship. Feel free to join us then also.
Right now, we have some donated lasagna, ziti, mashed potatoes, stuffing and meatballs which we will serve but we need all the other main and side dishes. In the past, lodge members have donated either prepared or purchased food for the event. Anything you can contribute will be appreciated and offset the cost of buying any necessary items. If you can contribute food, please let me know so we can compile a menu and identify what is needed. Any costs to provide meals for those in need have generally been funded by donations so if you are unable to provide food, any monetary donation will help. I thank all who have previously donated. Your generosity has allowed us to continue this worthwhile endeavor.
I await your response and look forward to your participation in this noble endeavor with your donation of time, money, food, or any combination thereof. We are counting on you to step up so we can continue to support this cause.

Brethren,
On Sunday, July 16, a fire and explosion at Bro Frank Mallozzi's home in Swartswood Lake claimed the life of his mother and dog. Frank and his wife escaped with minor injuries, but their home is completely lost. Having heard the news, several brothers have approached us looking for ways to provide assistance. A Gofundme page has been established by his daughter to make donations to the family. Here is the link for that page:

On Sunday, May 28, Givens-Belet American Legion Post 258 is hosting Blairstown's annual Memorial Day Parade. All Masons who are in good standing, from all jurisdictions, are invited to march with the Brothers of Blairstown Lodge #165.Attire for the parade will be a Masonic polo/golf shirt, khaki pants, and comfortable shoes. If we have enough attendees, jewels and aprons will be worn.Plan to meet at Blairstown Lodge (11 Stillwater Road, Blairstown, NJ 07825) around 10:30 am. Upon arrival, introduce yourself to unfamiliar Brothers, and car pool to the parade staging area (Tractor Supply Center parking lot on Route 94). In the parade staging area, look for sun-tents and Masonic flags and banners. Route 94 is closed to automobile traffic around noon, so make sure you get to the parade staging area in advance.Friends and family can set-up viewing sites along the parade route; there are plenty of shaded locations along the route. In the parade staging area (Tractor Supply Center parking lot), refreshments will be available, including: hot dogs, soft drinks, and water bottles; donations are always appreciated. It is suggested that you bring a folding chair, sunscreen, hat, etc. Additionally, if you have an antique car, you are invited to drive it in the parade. We will begin marching around 12:30 pm, and it is approximately a one-and-a-half (1.5) mile walk/march.After passing the judge's booth, there will be refreshments at Blairstown's Footbridge Park (free hot dogs and soft drinks provided by Givens-Belet American Legion Post 258). A beer-truck will also be in Footbridge Park; for a small donation you receive a souvenir mug and unlimited beer refills. Additionally, car pools back to the parade staging area (Tractor Supply Center parking lot) will be coordinated. This parade is always an enjoyable day of fellowship, and the weather forecast looks perfect for a parade; we hope that you join us this year.RSVP to me if you plan to march with the Brothers of Blairstown Lodge #165.Lodge Secretaries: please forward this to all members of your lodges.Brethren: please forward this note to any Brother who would be interested in marching in Blairstown's Memorial Day Parade .Sincerely and fraternally,- JohnJohn NauseCell/Text: 908.566.2925Home: 908.975.0300

Brethren:
Just a friendly reminder that we will be discussing the two presentations delivered at our last meeting. My intention is this discussion will culminate in the members present voting to accept one of the presentations and devote the lodge’s resources towards moving forward in a single direction. Should you not be able to attend but still want a say, please email the secretary with your thoughts and they will be read during the discussion. Unfortunately, if you are not there, your vote cannot be counted at this time. That is why I highly encourage all to come out so all members can have a say in the direction the lodge takes for our future. Your voice needs to be heard with your vote.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

On behalf of the Senior Warden:
Brethren,
As I stated at the end of last year, it is very easy to get caught up in our own activities associated with our life and lose sight of the simple things we take for granted such as a decent home and nourishing food for our families. I personally have not been able to come out so far this year to participate is a very valuable endeavor Harmony Lodge has been participating in for the last several years. This month I am fortunate enough for my calendar to clear so Brother King can take a much-needed vacation. Brother King has been doing an outstanding job this year and I can only hope I can meet his expectations for this month.
I want to personally thank all of you for supporting our Bread of Life efforts throughout this year. I sincerely hope we can continue to keep that participant level up to show the community that Harmony Lodge is here to help and be part of the community.
On that note, our next event is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2023, which is the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. I ask that you respond to this email either way so I know who we can count on.
Right now, Brother King donated a cooked ham which we will serve but I need all the other main and side dishes. In the past, lodge members have donated either prepared or purchased food for the event. Anything you can contribute will be appreciated and offset the cost of buying any necessary items. If you can contribute food, please let me know so we can compile a menu and identify what is needed.
