Brother Paul Myers  on 12/23/2023

Paul E. Myers
Paul Myers departed his loving family on Thursday, December 21, 2023, after a brief illness. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family.

Paul was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 5, 1947, to Mason A. and Helen L. (White) Myers. Paul was husband and companion to Sandy, and father to Debra, Troy, and Trent. Paul and Sandy raised their children with love and care in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were happily married for 58 years.

Paul grew up and lived in Lincoln all his life. He attended Lincoln Northeast High School, where he met and fell in love with Sandy Arnold. They both agreed it was love at first sight. They were married on November 2, 1964, in Tallahassee Florida. They graduated from Lincoln Adult Education High School in 1966.

Paul loved bowling, camping, traveling, and birdwatching. In the late 1990s, Paul and Sandy purchased 60 acres near Raymond. The entire family loved to gather at “the farm” for holidays, birthdays, and to fish or canoe. Sleepovers at Grandpa and Grandma’s were a favorite for the grandkids.

After retirement, they made cross-country trips in their camper and joined a camping group. They took a three-week tour of Alaska by plane, train, boat, and auto. They spent several weeks touring Europe. Paris and Rome were Paul’s favorites. He never got to take his long-desired trip to Ireland due to Covid.

He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, and father. He is survived by sister Connie Davis (Ron) of Columbus TX, and children Debra Cosgrove (Jeffrey), Troy Myers (Sandra), and Trent Myers (Holly) all of Lincoln. Paul has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with another due in April.

Paul’s funeral will be Friday, December 29th at Wyuka Funeral Home at 3600 O Street in Lincoln. The service begins at 10:00 am. Following the formal service, there will be a graveside service at Wyuka Cemetery followed by a luncheon at Wyuka. The service will be live-streamed and can be accessed by a link at Wyuka.com. Visitation with family is Thursday, December 28th at Wyuka Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Warren and Tag met in a youth group at Warren UMC in Denver, CO. Rev. Dr. Lowell Swan helped guide Warren to go to the Iliff School of Theology on the campus of Denver University, receiving his Master of Theology, in 1957. Warren continued his training earning his Dr. of Ministry, in 1982, from the San Francisco Theological Seminary. Warren received the Alumnus of the Year Award from the Iliff School of Theology, Denver Colorado 1990.

Warren and Tag joined Countryside UMC which was closer to their home, and he continued leading Sunday school lessons and bible studies.

There will be a celebration of life on July 8, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Countryside UMC in Topeka, Kansas, celebrating both Warren and his wife Tag. Due to COVID, such a celebration for Tag did not occur, and it is just and proper that after 71 years of marriage, they are celebrated together. The family is examining the possibility of hosting the service on social media due to the inability of family and friends being unable to travel.

This has been a tradition of Ashlar Lodge for many years to contribute to the home at Thanksgiving time. We have one of the finest homes available. Please help us to support the home and residences.
The Food Truck is intended as a means for us as individuals and/or Lodges to put our gifts together and make them do the greatest good for all. All donations are given to the Home and spent on food and supplies to help with the needs of the Home and care of the residents.
The residents of the Home are truly thankful to be remembered each year and look forward to the arrival of the Food Truck at Thanksgiving time. If each of us would give according to our ability and from the heart, we need not fear for the continued welfare of our brothers and sisters.
As Chairman, I am attaching a copy of a circular slip, which your secretary or committee Chairman of your Lodge can mail to your membership. Please let me know if you need more of these slips.
Non-resident members have been very faithful to this project. Please give all brethren a chance to participate. Memorial Food Truck
REMEMBER: Contributions should be received by November 15, 2023.
On behalf of the staff and members of the Home and Ashlar Lodge, we wish to take this opportunity to express our thanks and appreciation for your past as well as your future cooperation.
Sincerely and fraternally,
ROBERT W. BOON MEMORIAL FOOD TRUCK
