Excellent SOI/Lecture Service yesterday March 23 2024 at Belmont # 627. Attendance was great and a lot of ground was covered. Discussion was had about working together as lodges to provide candidates with a better degree experience and we are planning to improve communications between lodges pertaining to degrees, meetings and general announcements. The groundwork was laid for that yesterday. Plenty of good questions were brought up regarding the work. Good day for all! A big thank you to WB Charles Grissom CL for doing the service and to everyone who attended for doing so.

Brethren, Mount Holly Masonic Lodge #544 AF&AM will hold an emergent communication on Monday evening, March 25th, 2024 for the purpose of passing four Brothers to the degree of Fellow Craft. Dinner is at 6:30 pm and the Degree will begin at 7:30 pm.

Jack Andrew Mercer Obituary

It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Jack Andrew Mercer of Mount Holly, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 91, on January 18, 2024. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Abraham Mercer and Viola Mercer; his former life partner Helena; his son Andy Mercer; and his granddaughter Kisten Machuca.

He is survived by : his wife Myrtlesue; his children, Debra Mercer, Terri Mercer and Steven Mercer (Cara); his grandchildren, Justin Mercer, Megan McNish, Jesse Mercer and Megan Flowers; his great grandchildren, Mikaela Machuca, Carlos Mercer, Brayden Mercer, Lucas McNish and Olivia McNish; and his brother-in-law Joe Abernathy.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Woodlawn Funeral Home (375 Woodlawn Ave, Mt Holly, NC 28120). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

Obituary | Victor Albert Willis of Gastonia, North Carolina | Greene Funeral Service & Crematorium 

Victor Albert Willis, 70, of Gastonia, NC, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Brookdale Senior Living on Robinwood Road.

He was born in Gaston County, on September 13, 1953, to the late Earl and Mary Willis.

Victor was the past Master of King Solomon Lodge #704 AF&AM in 1980. He was also the secretary for 18 years. He is a current member of Cherryville Lodge #505 AF&AM. He was a certified lecturer in the Masonic Lodge for 40 years. He was also a member of the Valley of Charlotte Scottish Rite, where he received his 33rd degree. He was a member of the Charlotte York Rite (Chapter #39 RAM, Counsil #8 R&SM, Commandery #2 KT). He has conducted close to 400 Masonic funerals for his brethren. He was a member of DeMolay, as well as an Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Karen Willis, and his brother, Daniel Willis and his wife, Karen P.

A Graveside service will be held Monday, January 8, 2024, 11:00 am, with speaker Rebecca Greene, at Gaston Memorial Park. D. Mack Sigmon, past Grand Master of Masons of North Carolina, will Conduct Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC 28052.

Excellent EA degree this morning at Belmont #627. 47 in attendance. 18 lodges were represented. 21 PM. 6 EA. 7 Districts. 2 States. 1 Province. 2 countries. Which I think is a record for Belmont #627 Among those present were Deputy Grand Master RWB Don Kehler who participated in the degree, DDGM and DDGL of the 36th District WB Marcus Moss and WB David Rainwater respectively. And RWB Michael Litvak PDDGM and current Grand Chaplain of the GL of Ontario Canada. Plus RWB Issac Lazar of the same . Both participated in the degree. RWB Litvak's son was one of the 2 candidates. Large amount of Masonic Education this morning. I would like to thank each and every Brother who came out this morning and assisted these Brothers in taking their first step in Masonry. Including WB Steve Mercer and JD David Povinelli who handled breakfast. Several officers were basically brand new and did an excellent job today. David Wilkes conferred the degree and this is his 3rd EA degree. David Povinell did a great job as JD. As did Allan Shirlan as SD.

Final Practice for Southfork's EA degree on Thurs June 15 and Belmont's EA degree on Sat June 17 will be held as a joint practice tmrw night, Weds, June 14 2023. Time 6:30 Pm There will be a few of us there earlier probably around 6 pm. Hope to see you there!

EA degree practice for the upcoming June EA  degree. Practice as Follows:: Tues May 23 2023 Thurs May 25 2023 Tues May30 2023 Thurs June 1 2023 at  6:30 PM with more Dates to be added..  If you are an Officer and are planning on taking part in this degree you need to be at these practices. I understand that some are on vacation and can't be there. But if you are available please attend.. Because there will be some GL Officers from Ontario Canada along with some NCGL Officers in attendance at the Degree. And we need some polishing up. One of the Candidate's father's is the Grand Chaplain in the Grand Lodge of Ontario. Lets put forth some extra effort and show what quality work we are capable of at Belmont Lodge #627.
